Rights Respecting Schools
Inch View Primary School was awarded the Rights Respecting School Silver Award in June 2023. You can read a summary of the assessors’ report below.
Achieving the Silver Award means that our school explicitly embeds the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in its policy, practice and culture.
Within our school, we hold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the centre of everything we do. Each class has a personalised charter which details the actions of the pupils and adults which will promote a rights respecting ethos.
Articles of the Term
Each month pupils learn about relevant articles.
Find out what we are learning about this term:
Rights Respecting Schools Committee
We have a Rights Respecting School Committee which consists of representatives from each class in the school. The Rights Respecting School Committee are passionate about embedding a Rights Respecting ethos in the school. A new committee will be democratically selected in September 2023. Take a look at some of the fantastic work the committee have done so far.
Rita – Our Mascot
In November 2022 we launched a competition to design our very own Rights Respecting School Mascot! The winning Mascot was designed by Oliwia and Logan in P7. The mascot is called Rita. Rita represents many CRC articles.
Playground Charter
In January 2023, the RRS committee created and launched Our Playground Charter. This serves as a reminder to pupils and staff about how to play respectfully.
International Day of Families
In May 2023, the committee organised and ran a special event to celebrate International Day of Families. They were keen to celebrate the diversity of families at Inch View.
Day of Action
Our Rights Respecting Schools Committee is continuing to take action to promote road safety around the campus. They are working with Sustrans and Road Policing Scotland to take a stand against illegal parking and speeding.
